WDFW Letter to USFWS supporting wolf de-listing in Washington.

How can that be? All of it has been on WDFW's website for some time now.

I haven't followed the story closely.  Three years ago, while in school, I was led to believe we were years away from having populations comparable to the NRM states - and now we're already talking about delisting.

My guess is the state recognizes the need to allow some form of depredation as it relates to livestock and other matters. Getting the Fed out of the way on the matter takes out a lot of bureaucracy and allows them to focus their efforts internally rather than having to worry about the Fed's opinion. I doubt they plan to change their wolf plan, but they may take more forceful steps to keep people "happy" as the population grows. Don't expect a wolf season any time soon, but you might get the right to defend what's yours and yourself from them.

It looks like it's been there for 3 weeks.

Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

They are proposing federal deslisting. They will still be listed in WA by WDFW. This is a step in the right direction.

May as well start the fight now since there will be years of court battles to follow.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

The document maybe, but most everything detailed in there has been addressed by WDFW for quite some time. The information was there if people wanted to look hard enough. I will agree that it's a well put together doc that brings together a lot of disparate information coherently.
